**NCR Braces for Flooding as Yamuna Breaches Danger Mark, Gurugram Grapples with Waterlogging**
**New Delhi, September 2, 2025** – The National Capital Region (NCR) is facing widespread disruption and potential displacement as heavy rainfall has caused the Yamuna River to surge past the danger level. In Delhi, authorities have ordered the closure of traffic and public movement near Loha Pul from 5 p.m. today as the river reached 205.33 meters, prompting a flood advisory from the Central Water Commission (CWC). Water has already begun entering homes in the Trans-Yamuna area, with residents of Mayur Vihar and surrounding localities waking up to flooded streets and homes.
Gurugram is also struggling with severe waterlogging, leading authorities to urge corporate offices to allow employees to work from home and directing schools to conduct online classes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall tomorrow.
Adding to the concern, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai. The CWC warns that the Yamuna River is expected to reach “evacuation level” later today. Residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and follow official guidelines.
