Mon Sep 01 23:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Hampton Hype Builds: Rookie RB Poised for Breakout Season

**El Segundo, CA – August 28, 2025** – The Los Angeles Chargers are buzzing with excitement as rookie running back Omarion Hampton approaches his NFL debut. After a strong showing in training camp and preseason, analysts are predicting big things for the first-round pick.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano boldly predicted that Hampton could win the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. While veteran Najee Harris is expected to be a factor upon his return from injury, Graziano believes Hampton is primed to seize the starting role. “If he’s what they thought he could be when they spent that first-round pick on him, he might just take the starter’s job right away and never look back,” Graziano stated.

Adding to the anticipation, Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano projects Hampton to lead the NFL in rushing touchdowns this season. Manzano believes the Chargers’ commitment to a strong rushing attack, coupled with Hampton’s nose for the end zone honed in college, will create ample scoring opportunities.

Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman echoed the optimism, praising Hampton’s work ethic. “He’s gotten better at everything,” Roman said on Thursday. “All he does is come into work every single day and just go to work, and work and work and work and try to get it right. It’s awesome.”

Despite concerns about the loss of left tackle Rashawn Slater, the presence of Justin Herbert and receiver Ladd McConkey should prevent defenses from focusing solely on the run. The Chargers appear ready to heavily feature Hampton, especially in goal-line situations.
