**Becton’s Size and Spirit Energize Chargers’ Offensive Line Ahead of Brazil Opener**

**Costa Mesa, CA -** The Los Angeles Chargers are banking on a significant addition to their offensive line to make an immediate impact as they prepare to kick off the 2025 season against the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil. That addition is none other than Mekhi Becton, the massive 6-foot-7, 363-pound guard acquired this offseason.

Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman expressed his excitement about Becton’s potential to anchor the line and his enthusiasm is echoed throughout the team. “I just want him to be the best version of himself, and the rest will take care of itself,” Roman said. “He’s got tremendous ability, and you can tell he really loves football. That’s big, I think that really helps the offensive line.”

Becton himself is focused on maintaining his health and building chemistry with his new teammates. “Ready to go,” Becton said. “Excited to be back with the guys.” This follows minor training camp issues.

The Chargers are hoping Becton can replicate the success he found after switching to right guard with the Eagles in 2024, where he earned a PFF grade of 75.2, ranking him among the top guards in the league. Becton’s prowess as a run blocker, with a PFF grade of 74.7, is also expected to significantly benefit the Chargers’ rushing attack, featuring Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton. This is more needed now with left tackle Rashawn Slater out for the season.

Beyond his physical attributes, Becton’s positive attitude and enthusiasm have already had a noticeable impact on the team dynamic. His focus on positivity and gratitude, stemming from his background in Richmond, Virginia, has resonated with his teammates. “I just know that I’m blessed and can’t take anything for granted, so I try to have fun every single day,” Becton said.

With the season opener just eight days away, the Chargers are relying on Becton to bring both his size and his spirit to the offensive line, protecting quarterback Justin Herbert and paving the way for a successful 2025 campaign.

The Chargers will play the Detroit Lions in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH. [FINAL SCORE: LAC 34 – DET 7]

Young players will be team captains to start their pro careers.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano recently predicted the Chargers running back would win the award.
