**RCB Announces Compensation, Safety Initiatives Following Deadly Stampede**
**Bengaluru, September 1, 2025** – Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, have announced a comprehensive plan to address the aftermath of the deadly stampede that occurred outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, 2025. The franchise is committing to invest in crowd safety through compensation and future measures.
Following a Karnataka government report that blamed RCB, DNA Network, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for the incident, which resulted in the deaths of eleven people, RCB is stepping up by initiating “RCB Cares”. On Saturday, RCB announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh (approximately $31,000 USD) to the families of each of the victims.
Beyond financial assistance, RCB stated its intention to work with stadium authorities, sporting bodies, and league partners to improve crowd management protocols. This includes conducting independent research on crowd safety, creating a fan-safety audit framework, and providing training to on-ground personnel in crowd management and emergency response.
The franchise also pledged to support the Siddi community with social development programs, adding another layer to their “RCB Cares” initiative.
RCB emphasized its commitment to “build safe and inclusive environments” for all fans in a statement released on ‘X’. The initiatives are a direct response to the tragic events of June, which saw a celebratory atmosphere turn deadly due to overcrowding and confusion reportedly exacerbated by unclear social media messaging.
