Mon Sep 01 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Cowboys Move On After Parsons Trade, Prescott Sees Opportunity
**FRISCO, Texas** – The Dallas Cowboys are turning the page after trading star linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and future first-round draft picks. While the move surprised many, quarterback Dak Prescott suggests the prolonged negotiations made some resolution inevitable, and the team is now focused on Thursday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Just with the way the negotiations went down… it seemed like it got personal on their end,” Prescott said, alluding to the drawn-out process. While acknowledging Parsons’ talent, Prescott believes the addition of Kenny Clark, a Pro Bowl-caliber player, will elevate the team. “I know what adding a guy like Kenny Clark, adding a true leader, a real man that’s going to only elevate this team… means,” Prescott stated. He added that his focus, and the team’s, is squarely on the Eagles game and not dwelling on the departure.
Prescott also revealed he exchanged messages with Parsons after the trade was finalized. He believes the trade ultimately avoids the potential distraction of an unresolved situation hanging over the team. “That would have been a lot more of a headache and distraction than getting a solution to it,” Prescott explained.
Defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, now a team captain, echoed Prescott’s sentiment. “Kind of sad that he’s gone, but at the same time, I’m very happy for him,” Odighizuwa said, emphasizing the need to focus on the upcoming game.
Even the Eagles are reacting to the change. Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata admitted to a “sigh of relief” knowing Parsons will no longer be lining up against him, but cautioned that the Cowboys’ defense remains a formidable force.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed the team last week, and Prescott feels no further intervention is necessary. He hopes the trade serves as a wake-up call, reminding players that football is a business and they should approach it with the utmost dedication.
The Cowboys will face Parsons and the Packers on September 28th at AT&T Stadium.
