Sun Aug 31 20:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Spirit Ride Winning Streak, Aim to Level Series Against Chicago in Pride Match

**Washington, D.C. (August 30, 2025)** – Riding high on a two-game road winning streak, the Washington Spirit return to Audi Field this Sunday to host Chicago Stars FC in their annual Pride match. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM EDT and will be broadcast nationally on CBS.

The Spirit are coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory over Bay FC in San Francisco, played in front of a record-breaking NWSL crowd of 40,091 fans at Oracle Park. That win propelled Washington into second place in the league standings, a position they are guaranteed to hold entering Sunday’s contest.

The team is currently enjoying a three-match winning streak against Chicago in regular season play. A win this weekend would not only extend that streak but also level the all-time regular season series between the two clubs, which currently stands at 10-11-7 in favor of Chicago. In their previous meeting this season, the Spirit secured a 3-2 victory in Illinois, highlighted by Rosemonde Kouassi’s first NWSL goal and Gift Monday’s third.

While the Spirit boast a potent attack, ranking near the top of the league in goals and assists, they are mid-table in terms of shots and possession. This suggests they are making the most of their opportunities, converting them at a high rate.

Chicago Stars FC, on the other hand, are desperate for a win, having not tasted victory since mid-April. Despite their struggles in the standings, the Stars’ attack has shown signs of life recently, scoring three goals in each of their last two matches. Last weekend saw Ludmila score a record-breaking fastest hat trick in NWSL history.

However, the Stars’ defense remains a concern, and they will need a complete performance to overcome the in-form Spirit.

Following Sunday’s match, the Spirit have a busy week ahead, hosting Vancouver Rise FC Academy in the Concacaf W Champions Cup on Wednesday, September 3rd, followed by a regular season clash against Seattle Reign FC on Sunday, September 7th. Chicago will return home to host Orlando Pride.
