Mon Sep 01 14:23:15 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Software Engineer Dies After Snakebite in Slipper

**Bengaluru, India -** A 41-year-old software engineer, Manju Prakash, tragically died on Saturday after being bitten by a venomous snake that had hidden inside his Crocs slippers. Prakash, an employee of TCS and resident of Ranganatha Layout, was reportedly bitten after slipping on his footwear outside his home after running a short errand.

According to family members and police reports, Prakash had left his slippers outside his front door. Unbeknownst to him, a snake had sought refuge inside one of the slippers. Due to a previous accident causing a loss of sensation in his leg, Prakash didn’t feel the bite.

The snake was later discovered inside the slipper by a family worker, who alerted Prakash’s father. The reptile, believed to have died from suffocation inside the slipper, was removed.

Tragedy struck when Prakash’s mother found him unresponsive on his bed, with foam around his mouth and a bleeding leg. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

The incident has sparked concern amongst Bengaluru residents regarding the presence of snakes in residential areas, especially during the monsoon season. Experts are urging residents to exercise extreme caution, advising them to thoroughly check footwear and dark corners of their homes for snakes, particularly in areas close to greenery or during rainy weather.
