Eleven students from S.R.N. Mehta CBSE School were lauded for their first-place victory at NASA’s NSS Space Settlement Design Contest 2025, held in Orlando, USA. The team – Aarna Adarsh, Deepika, Khushi, Poorvaja, Pranati, Saanika, Shambhavi, Sharan, Shreya, Zaisah Falak, and Nihar – impressed judges with their futuristic vision of building sustainable space colonies, complete with industries and administrative systems. They attributed their success to positive thinking, systematic planning, and strong teamwork.
Alongside the students, Dr. L.S. Patil, Executive Chairman of Patil Rail Infrastructure Private Limited, was celebrated for his pioneering work in the railway sector. A special tribute was paid to his contributions, including the introduction of advanced ballastless track technology for the Chenab bridge in Kashmir. As the son of former KKCCI and FKCCI president S.S. Patil, Dr. Patil’s achievements were highlighted as bringing both national and international recognition to Kalaburagi.
Dr. Patil, visibly impressed by the students, announced a cash prize of ₹15,000 for each student and stated that he had contacted the ISRO Chairman to facilitate guidance for the young innovators.
MLCs B.G. Patil and Shashil Namoshi, along with trustees Preetham Mehta and Chakor Mehta, were also honored at the event.
KKCCI president Sharanabasappa Pappa emphasized the significance of the achievements, stating that they personify the region’s growing recognition on the global stage.
Deputy Commissioner Fauzia Taranum, who released the KKCCI’s quarterly magazine at the event, emphasized the crucial role of youth, start-ups, and women entrepreneurs in driving economic growth in the rapidly industrializing Nandur and Kesaratagi regions.
