**Man Arrested in Ballia Dowry Death Case**

**Ballia, Uttar Pradesh – August 26, 2025** – A man has been arrested in Ballia city, Uttar Pradesh, for the alleged dowry death of his wife, Khushi Verma, age 25. Ravi Giri was apprehended by police on Monday, August 25, 2025, near Bandha Road in Bedua, and has been remanded to jail.

According to Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh, the arrest follows a complaint filed by Khushi’s brother, Rinku Verma, alleging that Khushi was harassed for dowry by her husband, Ravi Giri, his brother Raju Giri, and their mother. The First Information Report (FIR) states that Khushi, who married Ravi Giri two and a half years ago, was allegedly killed on August 24, 2025, by the accused due to unmet dowry demands.

Khushi Verma’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ residence on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Her family alleges that the in-laws cremated her body without notifying the police. A case of dowry death was registered on Monday against Ravi Giri, Raju Giri, and their mother under relevant sections of the law.

Authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of the remaining two suspects, Raju Giri and the mother-in-law, who are currently at large. The case underscores the persistent issue of dowry-related violence in India.
