**Israeli Forces Raid Ramallah, Wounding Dozens, Including Child**

**Ramallah, West Bank** – Israeli forces conducted a raid on Ramallah and el-Bireh in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, resulting in at least 24 Palestinian injuries, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS). Witnesses reported Israeli snipers positioned on rooftops as troops entered the central vegetable market area.

Medical teams cited by Wafa news agency reported that a 12-year-old child was shot in the back. Other injuries included a 71-year-old man and four others wounded by rubber-coated steel bullets in the head, face, abdomen, and neck. Five people, including two pregnant women, suffered from tear gas inhalation. Reports indicate that rescue teams were initially prevented from reaching the wounded.

Witnesses also reported Israeli forces stormed a currency exchange shop in an area between Ramallah and el-Bireh, detaining at least three Palestinians.

The raid, which lasted several hours near schools and a market, was described by Xavier Abu Eid, former communication director for the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), as part of the daily life of Palestinians and a show of force to remind residents of Israeli control.

Adel Abdel Ghafar, senior fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, stated that the operation demonstrates Israel’s conflict extends beyond Hamas and Gaza, encompassing “all the Palestinian people,” and constitutes a form of “collective punishment” aimed at financially weakening the population.

The West Bank has experienced increased Israeli military and settler violence since the start of the war on Gaza in October 2023. According to the United Nations, at least 671 Palestinians, including 129 children, have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the region since then.

Paris-based political journalist Faten Elwan suggested the raid was less a targeted operation and more a display of power, signaling the end of the Oslo Accords and the Palestinian Authority’s influence.
