**Hindu MP Accuses Karnataka Government of Targeting Festive Celebrations**

**MANGALURU, August 21, 2025** – Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, has issued a strong statement accusing the Karnataka state government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, of deliberately targeting Hindu festive celebrations with unreasonable restrictions enforced by the police.

In a statement released from New Delhi, Capt. Chowta alleged the government is using the police force to hurt Hindu sentiments. He cited recent guidelines issued by the Mangaluru city and Dakshina Kannada district police, which restrict the use of DJ systems and festivities beyond 10 p.m., as examples. The MP emphasized that Tulunadu experiences numerous socio-cultural-religious events throughout the year.

Specifically, Capt. Chowta condemned the Mangaluru police for filing a case against organizers and seizing the sound system at a Mosaru Kudike (Krishna Janmashtami) celebration in Kavoor on August 16th. He asserted that police interference during festivals celebrated with great fervor is unwelcome and unnecessary.

He pointed out that even during the previous BJP administration, while loudspeaker restrictions existed, the police generally refrained from interfering with celebrations. Capt. Chowta suggested that the current administration has issued specific instructions to disrupt Hindu festivities, a claim based on complaints from sound system owners who fear using loudspeakers at public events after the Kavoor incident.

The MP highlighted that elected representatives had already raised the issue with Home Minister G. Parameshwara during his recent visit to Mangaluru, but the concerns remained unresolved. Capt. Chowta warned that if the government continues to interfere with Hindu sentiments, it will be held responsible for any resulting consequences.

The Kavoor police justified their actions by stating that the organizers of the Mosaru Kudike celebrations in Panjimogaru used a DJ system and obstructed traffic on a public road.
