**HYDERABAD, August 5, 2025 (The Hindu)** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rainfall alert for Hyderabad and eight other districts in Telangana on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The warning forecasts intense showers and thunderstorms are expected to lash the region throughout the evening and night.
The affected districts, in addition to Hyderabad, include Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, and Jogulamba Gadwal. The IMD’s 1 p.m. forecast indicates that isolated areas within these districts are most likely to experience heavy rainfall. Furthermore, the weather agency has predicted thunderstorms and gusty winds across all 33 districts of Telangana.
A separate “nowcast” alert, issued at 1:07 p.m., highlighted the formation of cumulonimbus clouds in the northern and northwestern areas of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The alert further warned that “moderate to heavy rain is very likely to occur this evening or night in Medchal Malkajgiri and Hyderabad districts.” Rangareddy district is also predicted to receive moderate rainfall.
