**Vellore, August 4, 2025** – A CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel stationed in Jammu and Kashmir has levied serious allegations against the Ponnai police in Vellore district, Tamil Nadu, accusing them of negligence in investigating a burglary at her parents’ residence.

In a video widely circulated online, reportedly shared by BJP leader K. Annamalai, the jawan, identified as Kalavathi from Narayanapuram village near Katpadi, claims that her parents’ home was burglarized on June 24, 2025, resulting in the loss of 22.5 sovereigns of gold jewelry, ₹50,000 in cash, and valuable silk sarees.

Kalavathi alleges that the Ponnai police delayed registering the FIR, citing security duties related to the Chief Minister’s visit. She further claims that the FIR copy was only obtained on June 28 and that no progress has been made in the case since.

“My father informed the local police, but they delayed registration of complaint, citing bandobast duty for the Chief Minister’s visit to the district the following day. We got the FIR copy only on June 28. So far, no progress has been made in the case,” she stated in the video.

However, police sources dispute this timeline. SP (Vellore) A. Myilvaganan told *The Hindu* that the FIR was registered on June 25 at 7:30 p.m. and that the FIR copy was issued the same day to Kumarasamy’s son, K. Dasarathan.

“The case is in the final stages of investigation. The suspects will be arrested soon,” Myilvaganan stated.

Police sources also confirmed that a preliminary investigation was conducted on the day the complaint was filed, including an inspection of the crime scene and fingerprint collection. The Call Detail Records of nine suspects, including those named by the victim, are currently being analyzed.

“Around 80% of the investigation is done. Suspects will be held soon,” police sources added.

The allegations made by the CRPF personnel have raised concerns about the efficiency of the police investigation, prompting further scrutiny of the case. The investigation is ongoing.
