**DOJ Opens Grand Jury Investigation into Alleged Obama Administration ‘Manufacturing’ of Trump-Russia Collusion Narrative**
**Washington, D.C. –** The Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched a grand jury investigation into allegations that the Obama administration manufactured a narrative linking President Donald Trump to Russia during the 2016 election, Fox News Digital has exclusively learned.
Attorney General Pam Bondi directed her staff on Monday to act on a criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard, prompting the investigation. A federal prosecutor, appointed by Bondi, is expected to present evidence to a grand jury, potentially leading to an indictment.
A DOJ spokesperson confirmed that Bondi is taking Gabbard’s referral “very seriously,” stating there is “clear cause for deep concern and a need for next steps.”
Gabbard’s criminal referral, submitted two weeks prior, included a memorandum alleging that the Intelligence Community suppressed information indicating that “Russian and criminal actors did not impact” the 2016 presidential election via cyber-attacks. Gabbard claims “deep state actors” within the Obama administration intentionally kept Trump-Russia information from “seeing the light of day.”
In July, Gabbard declassified intelligence that, according to her, shed new light on the Obama administration’s alleged determination that Russia sought to help Trump in the 2016 election.
This intelligence assessment, prepared in December 2016 after Trump’s victory, allegedly detailed the tools Moscow used to influence the election but stated the actions did not affect the election outcome and were intended to sow distrust in the democratic process. Gabbard alleges that Obama and his officials laid the groundwork for a narrative that Trump and his campaign colluded with Russia to win the election.
It remains unclear who the grand jury will target and what charges may be pursued, considering the statute of limitations for activities from nearly a decade ago. Former Obama intelligence officials, including John Brennan, James Clapper, and James Comey, have faced scrutiny from Trump officials for their alleged involvement in developing intelligence that undermined Trump’s 2016 victory.
This is a developing story.
