**Brittney Griner Ejected After Contact with Referee in Dream’s Win Over Wings**
**Arlington, TX** – Atlanta Dream center Brittney Griner was ejected from Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Wings after receiving two technical fouls in quick succession. The incident occurred in the third quarter, just under a minute into the second half, with the Dream holding a narrow 44-43 lead.
The first technical was assessed after Griner vocally disputed a foul call during a battle for a rebound. As referee Angelica Suffren walked away, Griner followed, prompting a Dream staff member to intervene. In the ensuing interaction, Suffren was bumped, leading to Griner’s immediate ejection. Broadcast footage made it difficult to discern whether Griner intentionally bumped the referee, though a Dream coach appeared to also make contact with Suffren while attempting to separate the two.
Griner, 34, finished the game with just four points and four rebounds in 16 minutes, continuing what has been a statistically down season for the WNBA veteran. She is currently averaging career lows in points (10.6), minutes (23.3), and rebounds (5.6).
The Dream, despite Griner’s ejection, managed to secure an 88-85 victory over the Wings, improving their record to 16-11 and positioning them within 1.5 games of the second seed in the WNBA playoffs.
This incident follows earlier controversy this season involving Griner and rookie Caitlin Clark, after speculation arose regarding Griner’s choice of words toward Clark.
No further comment was immediately available from the WNBA or the Atlanta Dream.
