**Fishy Incident Causes Brush Fire and Power Outage in British Columbia**
Ashcroft, BC – An unusual chain of events unfolded in Ashcroft, British Columbia on Wednesday, resulting in a small brush fire and a temporary power outage. According to fire officials, the culprit wasn’t lightning or human error, but rather a dropped fish.
Authorities believe an osprey, while flying over the area, dropped its catch, which then made contact with overhead power lines. The resulting sparks ignited dry grass, causing a blaze that consumed less than an acre.
“With the help of nearby ranchers and BC Hydro employees, firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire,” Ashcroft Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post.
The incident knocked out power to Ashcroft, a village of over 1,500 residents, for a short period. While the exact reason for the fish’s accidental release is unknown, officials speculate the size of the fish and the day’s heat may have contributed to the osprey dropping its prey.
“Our prime suspect sustained no injuries in the incident and is still flying at large,” Ashcroft Fire Rescue added. Unfortunately, the fish was not as fortunate, ending up charred and overcooked.
