**Ranchi, Jharkhand** – Private schools in Ranchi will remain closed today, following the death of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren. The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has also announced the postponement of the monthly assessment examination for government schools, originally scheduled for today, August 5th. The exam will now be held on August 7th.
The decision comes as a three-day state mourning period has been declared in honor of Soren, a prominent political figure in Jharkhand. The JAC has circulated a notice to all District Education Officers and Superintendents informing them of the postponement.
