Uttarkashi, India – A cloudburst in the Dharali village of Uttarkashi district has caused widespread destruction, leaving a trail of silt, submerged homes, hotels, and lodges in its wake. The disaster has claimed at least four lives, with reports indicating that 50 people have been injured. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to search for survivors amidst the debris.

Harrowing videos have emerged showing the extent of the damage, including one depicting a man crawling through the wreckage in a desperate attempt to reach safety. The cloudburst struck near Dharali, approximately 18 kilometers from the Gangotri shrine and 4 kilometers from the army camp. A subsequent surge in the Khir Ganga River inundated the residential area of Dharali within a matter of seconds.

Initial reports suggest that the cloudburst also affected the area near Sukhi Top. The sight of panicked residents fleeing the deluge, combined with the destruction, is truly horrific.
