**NEW DELHI, August 2, 2025** – India Post is embarking on a significant modernization drive to enhance efficiency and improve the customer experience, officials announced today.

The postal department is phasing out its “Registered Post” service, integrating it into Speed Post, while simultaneously upgrading its IT infrastructure nationwide. A key component of this upgrade is the integration of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) at all Speed Post booking locations, ensuring seamless digital transactions.

To expedite mail delivery, India Post has secured “hard blocks” of cargo space on passenger flights, guaranteeing sufficient room for mailbags on routes across the country.

The IT overhaul includes the implementation of the Advanced Postal Technology (APT) system, which provides real-time tracking capabilities, allowing customers to monitor their packages at every stage of the journey.
