Sat Aug 02 15:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Uttarakhand Government Addresses Safety Concerns After Deadly Mansa Devi Incident

**Haridwar, India – July 31, 2025** – Following a tragic incident at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on July 27th, which resulted in nine fatalities amidst rumors of an electrical shock, the Uttarakhand government is scrambling to improve safety and infrastructure at temples across the state. The government’s effort includes the famous Kainchi Dham temple.

The heightened scrutiny comes after local news outlet ETV Bharat highlighted hazardous conditions in the narrow streets leading to Har Ki Pauri, a significant ghat on the Ganges River. Their report, titled “Haridwar’s ‘Real’ Condition After Mansa Devi Tragedy: Devotees Below, Dangling Wires Above,” exposed a web of tangled wires, encroachments, and incomplete infrastructure projects.

Taking immediate action, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal, HRDA Secretary Manish Singh, and a host of other top officials conducted a thorough inspection of the area. The inspection covered areas from Bhalla Road to Upper Road, Moti Bazaar, Vishnu Ghat, and Subhash Ghat.

“We found numerous shortcomings and instances of negligence,” stated District Magistrate Dixit. “We have ordered the immediate removal of all encroachments blocking the path to Har Ki Pauri and instructed authorities to organize the haphazardly dangling electrical wires in all the markets.”

A comprehensive plan for the Har Ki Pauri route is now in development, aimed at ensuring a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees. The district magistrate emphasized that the goal is to eliminate any potential obstacles or difficulties for pilgrims during their visit. The move comes after widespread criticism of the government’s handling of the Mansa Devi incident.
