**Ghislaine Maxwell Transferred to Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas**
**Bryan, TX (KBTX) -** Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted sex trafficker and former associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved to the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Bryan, Texas. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the transfer, which took place Friday morning.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in helping Epstein groom and abuse underage girls. She was convicted in 2022 and had been held at a Florida facility prior to the transfer.
The move comes shortly after Maxwell was questioned by the Department of Justice in connection with the “Epstein Files” investigation. Her attorney, David Oscar Markus, told reporters that Maxwell cooperated fully during the questioning.
News of the transfer was first reported by The New York Sun. Benjamin O’Cone, an official with the Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator, confirmed Maxwell’s location to USA Today, stating, “We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas.”
The transfer has raised eyebrows, with some questioning the appropriateness of placing Maxwell in a minimum-security prison known for its relatively relaxed environment. FPC Bryan is a minimum-security facility for women, notable for its resources and reputation. Other high-profile inmates include Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes and former “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Jennifer Shah.
Mitchel Roth, a criminal justice professor from Sam Houston State University, suggested that the timing and nature of the transfer might be more than a simple coincidence. “The move from Florida to Texas seems very coincidental, you know, considering that she just gave all of her testimony in front of some type of committee that nobody knows about… She definitely got an upgrade in her living condition,” Roth told KBTX.
Roth also added, “My sense is that there’s another story not being told here because the bottom line is, is she’s in jail for 20 years for sex trafficking, and they’re (Bryan prison) treating her, you know, much better than they would someone else, and that’s a that’s a pretty serious crime. So, you know, it’s kind of a win-win for her.”
KBTX will continue to monitor developments related to Maxwell’s case and her incarceration at FPC Bryan.
