Sat Aug 02 05:13:41 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Airport Deploys Therapy Dogs for Passenger Comfort

**HYDERABAD, August 2, 2025** – Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has launched a heartwarming initiative designed to ease travel anxieties: therapy dogs. The “Paws and Peace” program introduces trained canine companions to the airport terminal, offering passengers a calming presence amidst the hustle and bustle of air travel.

Two therapy dogs, accompanied by trained handlers, are stationed in designated zones beyond security checkpoints in both domestic and international departure areas. Passengers can interact with the dogs for four to six hours daily, engaging in activities such as petting, supervised games of fetch, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in their company. Dedicated “selfie zones” are also available for capturing the memorable encounters.

Airport officials emphasize the voluntary nature of the interactions, ensuring passengers are not approached unless they invite the engagement. “Their presence is meant to be gentle and soothing, ideal for those who may be nervous flyers or simply in need of a brief escape from the crowds and noise of airport terminals,” stated a spokesperson.

To maintain a safe and respectful environment, RGIA has established guidelines for interactions. Passengers are encouraged to approach the dogs calmly, follow handler instructions, and avoid loud noises or sudden movements. Flash photography is discouraged, children must be accompanied by adults, and those with allergies are advised to maintain a safe distance. The dogs’ workday is limited to ensure adequate rest and prevent overexertion.

The “Paws and Peace” initiative aims to provide a unique and comforting experience for travellers at RGIA, transforming the airport into a more welcoming and stress-free environment.
