**Varanasi, [Date – Current Date]** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme in a special ceremony held in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi. The disbursement, aimed at providing financial relief to millions of farmers, was directly transferred to their bank accounts.
The event, which commenced at 11 AM, saw PM Modi address a large gathering after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth ₹2200 crore. These projects encompass various sectors including education, health, tourism, sports, and infrastructure.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, a total of ₹3.69 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers across 19 installments since its inception in February 2019. The scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Today’s installment continues the trend, providing ₹2000 to each eligible farmer.
The government highlighted the inclusion of approximately 25 lakh new farmers in the scheme within the first 100 days of the new administration. Additionally, a special campaign launched in September 2024 led to the approval of over 30 lakh pending self-registration cases.
Addressing the concerns of farmers, the Modi government has also launched the PM-Kisan AI Chatbot, providing assistance in 11 languages, ensuring that farmers can access support in their native tongue. The chatbot has already addressed over 95 lakh queries.
Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore emphasized the scheme’s role as a strong safety net for the nation’s farmers, stating that “This scheme is reaching every village through technology, government participation, and campaign-based efforts, empowering farmers economically.”
The PM-Kisan scheme remains a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to support the agricultural sector and uplift the lives of farmers across the country.
