**Varanasi, [Date of Release]** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from Varanasi, directly transferring over ₹20,500 crore (approximately $2.5 billion USD) to the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore (97 million) farmers across the nation.
The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) was initiated from Banauli village in Sevapuri, ensuring farmers receive ₹2,000 directly into their accounts. This follows the 18th of June release of funds to 9.26 crore farmers, demonstrating the government’s continued commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
While many farmers will receive an SMS notification upon credit, those who haven’t can verify the deposit by checking their bank statement. As the transfers are being rolled out, not all farmers will receive the funds simultaneously.
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme provides eligible farmers with ₹6,000 annually, distributed in three installments of ₹2,000 each. This initiative aims to supplement the financial needs of small and marginal farmers, enabling them to invest in better farming practices.
The next installment of the scheme, totaling ₹3.69 lakh crore (approximately $44 billion USD), is scheduled to be released on August 2nd, furthering the government’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural economy and supporting the backbone of the nation.
