**MrBeast, Mark Rober Lead $40 Million YouTube Fundraiser for Global Water Projects**

**NEW YORK (AP) –** In what’s being hailed as the biggest YouTube collaboration ever, online creators from around the globe, led by MrBeast and Mark Rober, are launching a $40 million fundraising campaign to address global water quality issues. The #TeamWater initiative aims to raise funds for sustainable water projects managed by WaterAid, an international nonprofit.

The month-long campaign seeks to mobilize the combined 2 billion subscribers of participating creators to combat unsafe water sources. According to the United Nations, over 2 billion people lacked access to safely managed drinking water as of 2022. The goal is to provide sustainable access for 2 million people and inspire a commitment to advocacy for future generations.

Joining MrBeast and Rober are other prominent online figures like Kai Cenat, the Stokes Twins, and Dude Perfect. Creators will produce diverse content, from educational explainers to water-themed challenges, to raise awareness.

While WaterAid will administer most of the funds to Colombia, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Malawi and Kenya, the organization has also partnered with GivePower and the Alok Foundation to implement projects in Brazil and rural Kenya, respectively. Some funds will be used for U.S.-based projects, including an atmospheric water generator for an assisted living facility in Jackson, Mississippi, and infrastructure repairs in Rhodell, West Virginia, facilitated by DigDeep.

Previous campaigns, #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas, raised over $50 million. Organizers acknowledge criticisms about the campaigns’ oversimplified solutions and lack of addressing root causes. Matt Fitzgerald, a digital campaign strategist, emphasizes that these initiatives are meant as an entry point for deeper engagement and that the #TeamWater campaign seeks to center people.

WaterAid CEO Kelly Parsons said the organization works with communities for up to a year designing the proper solution, which sometimes involves training local water technicians.
