Fri Aug 01 23:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Marsee Expected to Make MLB Debut for Marlins Against Yankees This Weekend
**Miami, FL -** Outfielder Jakob Marsee, the Marlins’ #23 prospect, is reportedly set to make his Major League debut against the New York Yankees this weekend, according to sources close to Fish On First. While the Marlins organization has yet to officially confirm the roster move, the call-up is anticipated in the wake of the Marlins’ recent trade of Jesús Sánchez to the Houston Astros.
Marsee, 24, joined the Marlins organization as part of the Luis Arraez trade early last season and is the first player from that package to reach the major leagues. He’s been tearing it up in Triple-A Jacksonville this season, batting .246 with 14 home runs, 37 RBIs, and an impressive 47 stolen bases in 98 games. His .817 OPS and 125 wRC+ highlight his offensive prowess.
“His average exit velo is up like six miles an hour right now compared to last year,” said AAA hitting coach Mike Marjama. “He’s one of those guys who had a little rocky start at the beginning, but now that we’ve gotten to know each other, better in communication, it’s been super helpful and the trust factor is there. He’s a Detroit kid, a hard-nose underdog and so watching him come in, chip on his shoulder, compete, he’s the heartbeat of our team.”
Marsee is expected to platoon in the outfield, primarily starting against right-handed pitching. He boasts a strong .857 OPS against righties this season. Defensively, he’s versatile enough to play all three outfield positions, with a natural fit in center field due to his speed and route-running ability.
The Marlins will begin their three-game series against the Yankees on Friday at 7:10 pm. It’s anticipated that Marsee will be in the lineup for Saturday and Sunday’s games against right-handed pitchers Cam Schlittler and Luis Gil.
