**KOCHI, August 1, 2025** – The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) announced today its intention to transfer ownership of the Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road (KK Road) to the Kochi Corporation following the completion of ongoing restoration efforts. The 3.20-kilometer, 4-lane road, a vital artery connecting the bustling junctions of Kaloor and Kadavanthra, has been plagued by potholes and disrepair in recent years.

“We have tendered restoration work worth ₹2 crore, which will get underway as soon as the rain relents somewhat. Once the work is over, consultations will be held with the Corporation authorities on the potential transfer,” stated sources within the GCDA.

The GCDA cited financial limitations as the primary reason for the handover, emphasizing its lack of a dedicated budget for road maintenance. This makes large-scale repairs and resurfacing difficult, unlike the Kochi Corporation which has dedicated funding.
