**Minneapolis, MN – July 31, 2025** – A Delta Air Lines flight from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam was forced to divert to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Wednesday evening after experiencing severe turbulence that injured 25 passengers.
The flight landed at approximately 7:45 p.m., where the airport fire department and paramedics were waiting. Delta confirmed that all 25 injured passengers were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
While serious injuries resulting from in-flight turbulence are uncommon, experts suggest that increased incidents may be linked to climate change. Alterations to the jet stream caused by climate change are believed to be contributing to more volatile air currents.
