**West Indies Cricket in Crisis: T20I Struggles Deepen with Another Loss**
**Florida, USA – October 16, 2024** – Once a dominant force in the T20 format, the West Indies cricket team is facing a worrying decline, exemplified by their recent struggles and a string of defeats. The team, which proudly lifted the T20 World Cup trophy in 2012 and 2016, has managed to secure only two victories in their last 19 T20 International matches.
The latest setback came in the opening match of their three-game T20I series against Pakistan in Florida, where they suffered a 14-run defeat. Pakistan, batting first, posted a total of 178/6, spearheaded by Sam Ayub’s explosive 58 off 37 balls. In response, the West Indies could only muster 164/7 in their allotted 20 overs. A slow start from openers Johnson Charles (35 off 36) and debutant Jewel Andrew (35 off 33) put the team behind, despite late efforts from Jason Holder (30* off 12) and Shamar Joseph (21* off 12).
This loss follows a humiliating 5-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia in a recent T20I series. Since their 3-0 series win against South Africa last year, the West Indies have only managed two wins: one against England on November 16, 2023, and another against Ireland on June 15, 2024.
Despite a recent change in captaincy, the team’s performance has yet to improve significantly. The West Indies will need a major turnaround in the remaining two matches against Pakistan to avoid another series defeat and regain some much-needed confidence.
