Tue Jul 29 04:10:00 UTC 2025: **Meteor Shower Spectacle to Light Up Late July Skies in 2025**

**[City, State] –** Skywatchers are in for a treat in late July 2025, as two meteor showers, the Alpha Capricornids and the Southern Delta Aquariids, are set to peak. The moon is in the evening sky and setting before the activity is strongest, creating optimal viewing conditions.

The Alpha Capricornids, a minor shower known for producing brilliant fireballs, will be active from July 7 to August 13, reaching its peak on July 30. Although hourly rates are typically low, around 3-5 meteors, the shower is known for producing exceptionally bright meteors, potentially outshining the brightest stars. Viewers can expect these meteors to radiate from the constellation Capricornus, becoming more visible later in the night as the radiant rises higher in the sky.

Simultaneously, the Southern Delta Aquariids will also be at their peak on July 30, active from July 19 to August 13. This shower, originating from the constellation Aquarius, offers faster meteors, lasting less than a second. Viewers can expect to see 5-10 meteors per hour around 3:00 am local daylight time, with the best views in the southern hemisphere where rates can reach 10-20 per hour.

Experts advise viewers to find a dark location away from city lights and recline comfortably, looking southward about half-way up in the sky. A blanket and pillow are also recommended.

In addition to these two showers, stargazers may also spot up to 10 sporadic meteors per hour, as well as early Perseids streaking across the northern sky. For those interested in contributing to meteor science, the American Meteor Society provides resources for reporting meteor sightings and contributing to a global database.
