Tue Jul 29 03:40:00 UTC 2025: **Mets Sweep Giants, Extend Lead with Seventh Straight Win**

SAN FRANCISCO – The New York Mets completed a dominant three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, securing a 5-3 victory and extending their NL East lead to 1 1/2 games over the Philadelphia Phillies. The win marked the Mets’ seventh consecutive, matching their season-best streak from April.

Rookie Ronny Mauricio was the offensive catalyst, delivering a career-high four hits, including a game-tying home run in the seventh inning. Juan Soto followed suit with a go-ahead homer of his own in the same frame. Jeff McNeil contributed with two doubles as well.

Giants’ Matt Chapman put up a valiant effort, hitting two home runs and driving in all three of San Francisco’s runs. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Mets’ offensive surge and strong bullpen performance.

The Mets bullpen was stellar, with José Buttó earning the win and Edwin Díaz closing out the game with his 23rd save, striking out Willy Adames and Chapman with the bases loaded in the ninth. Gregory Soto also had a perfect seventh in his New York debut.

The Giants will look to rebound on Monday when top pitching prospect Carson Whisenhunt makes his major league debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Meanwhile, the Mets will travel to San Diego, where RHP Frankie Montas is scheduled to face the Padres.
