**Hollywood, CA** – Actor Jeremy Renner is back on screen after a harrowing recovery from a near-fatal snowplow accident in early 2023. Best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Renner spent significant time in critical condition following the incident, battling injuries that threatened his life.
Now, nearly a year and a half later, Renner is making a remarkable comeback. He’s returning to his role as Mike McLusky in the upcoming season of “Mayor of Kingstown” and has joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man,” set to be released later this year.
Renner admits the return to acting wasn’t easy. In an interview with Empire magazine promoting his new book, “My Next Breath,” he shared the challenges of transitioning back to fictional roles while still dealing with the realities of his recovery. “It was kind of a struggle coming back to fiction, when my life is more non-fiction than non-fiction can really be,” he explained, citing the physical and mental demands of his recovery.
Despite the initial struggles, Renner felt compelled to return to work roughly a year after the accident. “I got to a place physically where I thought, ‘I’m ready to go back. I want to get back to life, I have to be social, and also get people back in their jobs’,” he said. He described the process as emotional, especially a stunt he performed in the second week of filming “Mayor of Kingstown” which relieved all involved in its success.
The experience has significantly shifted Renner’s priorities. He now prioritizes working with people he loves and ensuring his family can be with him on set. “I’ll never work again unless it’s with the people I want to work with, and my family can be there, or my daughter can be there, or my friends can be there,” Renner stated. He emphasized the importance of love and family, revealing he brought 15 family members to London during the filming of “Knives Out 3”.
Welcome back, Jeremy!
