**Patna, July 26, 2025:** A woman aspiring to join the Bihar Military Police (BMP) has filed a complaint alleging she was gang-raped in an ambulance while being transported to a hospital after collapsing during a physical recruitment test in Bodh Gaya.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 24th, when the aspirant fainted due to heat and humidity. She was referred to Anugraha Narayan Medical College and Hospital (ANMCH) in Gaya. According to her police complaint filed on July 25th, she was sexually assaulted in the ambulance while en route to the hospital.
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case: Vinay Kumar, the ambulance driver from Gaya district, and Ajit Kumar, the ambulance technician from Nalanda district. While the victim initially alleged three to four people were involved, police investigation has so far implicated only the two arrested individuals.
“In police investigation yet, only two people were found to be involved in the gang rape, though the victim had charged three-four people. If more people are found involved in the incident in further investigation, they too would be arrested,” Bodh Gaya Police station in-charge Manoj Kumar told The Hindu.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed and is utilizing CCTV footage and other technical surveillance methods.
The incident has triggered strong reactions from opposition leaders. Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, condemned the alleged assault on social media, questioning the state of law and order under the current government. Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), also criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government and questioned the “functioning of the state police.”
The victim is currently receiving treatment at ANMCH hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
