**Hyderabad, India – July 26, 2025 -** Light showers that swept through Hyderabad on Friday evening caused significant traffic disruptions across the city. Waterlogging compounded the usual weekend rush, leading to delays on major roads in both Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
According to the Hyderabad Traffic Control Room, motorists experienced average delays of 5-6 minutes at key intersections. Areas particularly affected included Bible House, Chilkalguda Junction, Alugaddabavi, Mettuguda, Masab Tank, and the Telangana Bhavan road in Banjara Hills, where standing water slowed traffic.
“Due to a steady drizzle and waterlogging, those travelling at moderate speeds of 40 kmph had to slow down to 20 kmph because of slippery surfaces and poor visibility,” a traffic officer reported. “There were no complete traffic jams, but the movement was sluggish.”
In the Cyberabad region, roads leading to and from Madhapur, Raidurgam, and Gachibowli, particularly the Hitec City stretch from IKEA to Kukatpally, saw prolonged congestion. Officials pointed out that Friday evenings typically see increased traffic volume due to weekend travel and IT employees heading home.
