Sat Jul 26 05:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Sydney Chandler Misses ‘Variety’ Cover After Rejecting On-Camera Game

**Hollywood, CA -** Actress Sydney Chandler, daughter of actor Kyle Chandler, found herself missing from the cover of *Variety’s* latest issue promoting FX’s upcoming sci-fi series *Alien: Earth* after refusing to participate in the magazine’s standard video interview format. Chandler, 29, who is starring in the highly anticipated series, reportedly repeatedly cancelled scheduled shoots and appearances related to the cover story.

According to *Variety*, Chandler’s representatives cited her reluctance to play a lighthearted “How Well Do They Know Each Other?” game with co-star Timothy Olyphant, 57, and show creator Noah Hawley, 58, as the primary reason for her withdrawal.

“I’m just a private person,” Chandler later explained to *Variety* in a phone interview, adding that navigating press engagements is “a bit out of my comfort zone” and that she was setting boundaries.

Hawley expressed disappointment over Chandler’s absence, stating, “It felt awkward to be there with Tim without her.” He added, “I was disappointed that my female-centric show, based on a female-facing franchise, does not have my lead actress on the cover.”

Chandler’s decision has sparked debate online, with some criticizing her perceived unwillingness to engage with the publicity demands of the industry, while others are applauding her for asserting personal boundaries.

*Alien: Earth* is set to premiere later this year.
