## Former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Sworn in as Governor of Goa
**Panaji, Goa – July 26, 2025** – Veteran politician Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju officially took office as the Governor of Goa today, succeeding P.S. Sreedharan Pillai. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan and presided over by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe of the Bombay High Court.
Raju, a seasoned Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader from Andhra Pradesh, brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as Civil Aviation Minister from 2014 to 2018 and holding various ministerial roles in the Andhra Pradesh government. He also served as a seven-time legislator in Andhra Pradesh before it was bifurcated into two states.
Speaking after the ceremony, Governor Raju emphasized his commitment to upholding the Constitution and working collaboratively with the people of Goa. “We all work as a team, and I am very delighted that I am associated with Goans,” he stated. While acknowledging his unfamiliarity with the local language, he expressed confidence in his ability to serve the state, citing his long political career and diverse experience both in government and opposition.
The newly appointed Governor appealed to the public for cooperation, stressing the importance of collective effort in strengthening the nation. “If people don’t work with the government, democracy suffers. We don’t want that situation. We want everyone to work unitedly,” he added, articulating his vision for India to achieve global prominence through unity and progress.
Mr. Pillai had completed four years in the gubernatorial position in Goa. He was accorded a farewell on Thursday (July 24, 2025).
