**Bengaluru, Karnataka – July 25, 2025** – The question of whether Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will complete his term has become a hot topic of debate within the state’s political circles. As Siddaramaiah potentially nears the record of longest-serving Chief Minister, surpassing Devaraj Urs’ tenure of over 2,700 days, speculation intensifies around a possible power-sharing agreement with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar (DKS).
Both leaders made their third trip to New Delhi since June, amid a high-command ordered silence among state Congress members regarding the CM issue. Though the trip officially involved attending the Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan, insiders suggested a possible meeting between Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi, after a previous attempt failed.
Sources say that the Congress leadership may be delaying any decision regarding the CM’s position until after the Bihar elections, knowing that any move against Siddaramaiah would affect the party’s performance due to Siddaramaiah’s popularity within OBC communities. Siddaramaiah, an OBC leader, has also asserted that he expects to finish his full five-year term.
The situation follows intense competition for the Chief Minister’s post after the 2023 state elections. While there were unconfirmed reports of a rotational Chief Minister formula, the party has not released any official statements on the matter. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Shivakumar is counting on his loyalty to the party and the Gandhi family to work in his favor.
