Thu Jul 24 23:57:31 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Devastated by Israeli Attacks, Malnutrition Deaths Rise Amid Ceasefire Collapse

**Gaza City** – At least 62 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, including 19 seeking aid, according to hospital sources. Two more individuals have succumbed to malnutrition, bringing the total starvation deaths in the enclave since October to at least 115, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The majority of these deaths have occurred in recent weeks, with children being particularly vulnerable.

The dire situation unfolds against a backdrop of a near-total Israeli blockade imposed since March, restricting the flow of aid and triggering a severe humanitarian crisis. The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has warned that “families are breaking down” due to hunger, with parents too weak to care for their children.

“Enforced starvation, enforced dehydration, and hunger are gripping the Gaza Strip,” reported Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, emphasizing the rising rates of malnutrition and the acute shortage of essential supplies. Health sources indicate that weakened immune systems are leaving people unable to fight off spreading diseases.

International condemnation of Israel’s actions continues to mount. Over 60 members of the European Parliament have demanded an emergency meeting to discuss actions against Israel, accusing EU leaders of a double standard in valuing Palestinian lives. Several countries have condemned the aid blockade and called for an immediate end to the fighting. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to discuss urgent measures to halt the violence and deliver vital food aid with his German and French counterparts.

Adding to the instability, ceasefire negotiations have collapsed, with the US envoy Steve Witkoff leaving Qatar early and accusing Hamas of lacking a “desire to reach a ceasefire.” Israel also withdrew its delegation from the talks. Hamas has denied the accusations and reiterated its commitment to continued negotiations.

Amid the escalating crisis, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September. This move was welcomed by Palestinian Authority officials as a demonstration of France’s commitment to international law, but swiftly condemned by Israeli officials as a “disgrace and a surrender to terrorism.”
