Fri Jul 25 06:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw Call It Quits (Again!) in “And Just Like That…” Season Three

**Hollywood, CA** – Fans of the “Sex and the City” revival, “And Just Like That…” are reeling after the latest episode saw Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw breaking up for the third and seemingly final time. Writers and executive producers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky anticipated strong reactions to the episode, titled “Present Tense,” which was co-written by the duo.

The breakup was driven by Aidan’s inability to move past Carrie’s past infidelity with Mr. Big, as well as his own recent indiscretion. Rottenberg and Zuritsky told The Hollywood Reporter that they intentionally avoided a clear “villain” in the situation, aiming for a realistic portrayal of a relationship ultimately undone by unresolved issues. The episode even featured Taylor Swift’s “How Did It End?” to underscore the finality of the split.

“We’re not going for ambiguity. It feels pretty permanent,” Zuritsky said.

The writers also addressed the mixed reactions to Aidan’s character arc this season. Some viewers criticized his actions, but Zuritsky defended their choices, explaining that they aimed to “humanize” him and show the complexities of parenthood and long-term relationships.

Both Sarah Jessica Parker and John Corbett are said to have handled the emotional breakup scene with professionalism, even adding their own touches to the dialogue. While the future of Carrie and Aidan remains uncertain, the writers confirmed the chapter is closed, for now, but were quick to say that in this universe “it’s never really over”. With three episodes remaining, “And Just Like That…” promises further surprises, fun, and freedom as Carrie navigates life post-Aidan.

New episodes of “And Just Like That…” season three are available every Thursday at 9 p.m. on HBO Max.
