Thu Jul 24 01:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Yankees Snap Losing Streak Against Blue Jays with Late-Inning Homer

**TORONTO** – Ben Rice’s tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning propelled the New York Yankees to a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, ending a five-game losing streak against their division rivals. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cody Bellinger also contributed with home runs for the Yankees.

Rice’s 15th homer of the season came off Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman (6-3), securing the win for the Yankees. Ian Hamilton (2-1) earned the win after pitching a scoreless out, while Devin Williams closed the game, securing his 15th save in 16 opportunities.

The Blue Jays saw their franchise-record home winning streak come to an end at 11 games despite strong performances from Addison Barger, who had two hits, and George Springer, who reached base four times.

New York initially held a 4-2 lead, but a throwing error by Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe in the sixth inning allowed Toronto to rally and tie the game. Volpe’s error, his 13th of the season, puts him in a tie for the most errors in the majors.

Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer struggled, allowing four runs and five hits in five innings. Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler, making his second career start, pitched five innings, allowing two runs and seven hits. Schlittler impressed with his velocity, clocking a fastball at 99.5 mph.

The Yankees jumped to an early lead in the first when Chisholm hit a three-run homer, followed by Bellinger’s solo shot in the fifth.

The series concludes Wednesday with Yankees LHP Max Fried (11-3, 2.43 ERA) scheduled to face Blue Jays RHP Chris Bassitt (10-4, 3.89).
