Wed Jul 23 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Taxpayers Still Await Refunds, Stimulus Check Claims Deadline Passed
**Harrisburg, PA** – Many taxpayers are still awaiting their tax refunds, and questions persist about past stimulus checks. Maria Francis of the Mid-Atlantic Connect Team breaks down the current situation.
The IRS is encouraging taxpayers to use its “Where’s My Refund” online tool to track the status of their refunds. Taxpayers can access the tool 24 hours after e-filing their return and will need to provide their Social Security number, filing status, and exact refund amount. Those who filed electronically with direct deposit information can generally expect their refund within 21 days of acceptance. Taxpayers can call the IRS at 800-829-1954 for similar information.
Meanwhile, the opportunity to claim the three stimulus checks issued between 2020 and 2021 has officially passed. The first stimulus was for up to $1,200 for individuals, the second up to $600, and the third was $1,400. The deadline to file for the third stimulus check (Recovery Rebate Credit) was April 15, 2025. Those who missed the deadline are no longer eligible.
“There are no extensions or appeals available for missed deadlines, and any unclaimed stimulus payments become the property of the U.S. Treasury,” Francis explained.
Amidst some speculation about a fourth stimulus check, the IRS has issued no confirmation that any further stimulus check is approved.
Taxpayers with questions or concerns regarding missing payments should contact the IRS directly or consult a reputable tax professional.
