Thu Jul 24 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## News Article: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces Tonight
**Kathmandu, Nepal -** Residents of Koshi and Madhesh provinces are bracing for heavy rainfall tonight, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). The MFD issued an advisory stating that some areas within these provinces are likely to experience significant downpours, potentially leading to localized flooding and disruption.
While the heavy rainfall is mainly confined to Koshi and Madhesh provinces, other regions of Nepal can expect lighter, more moderate showers. The MFD forecasts generally cloudy weather in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces during the day, with partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is possible in some hilly areas of these provinces, as well as in a few other locations.
The MFD attributed the weakened monsoon activity across the country to the monsoon trough remaining south of its average position.
“Tonight, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and other hilly regions will remain generally cloudy,” the statement read. “While other parts of the country will be partly cloudy, light to moderate rain is expected in several areas. However, one or two places in Koshi and Madhesh are forecast to receive heavy rainfall.”
The public is advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
