**New Delhi, India** – Honda is doubling down on the Indian commuter motorcycle market with the unveiling of the Shine 100 DX, a premium upgrade to the existing Shine 100. The move follows recent updates to Honda’s premium offerings in India, including the Transalp 750 and the 6500cc twins, signaling a strategic shift to cater to a broader range of consumers.
The Shine 100 DX boasts several enhancements designed to appeal to budget-conscious buyers seeking a touch of refinement. Key upgrades include a larger 10-liter fuel tank, updated graphics, and a modern LCD instrument cluster. The motorcycle will be available in four color options: Pearl Ingenious Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Grey Metallic.
Visually, the Shine 100 DX stands out with chrome accents on the headlight cowl and exhaust heat shield, giving it a contemporary aesthetic and a more substantial presence on the road.
Powering the new model is a reliable 98.98cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 7.28bhp and 8.04Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. While Honda hasn’t released official mileage figures, expectations are high that it will match the fuel efficiency of the standard Shine 100.
Built on a diamond-type chassis, the Shine 100 DX features telescopic forks, dual rear shocks, and drum brakes on both wheels. It weighs in at a light 103kg and offers a comfortable 786mm seat height.
Bookings for the Honda Shine 100 DX will begin on August 1st, with deliveries expected to follow shortly thereafter in a phased rollout. The Shine 100 DX is poised to compete directly with popular commuters, including the Hero Splendor. Industry analysts predict a competitive price point under Rs 1 lakh.
This launch highlights Honda’s commitment to the Indian market and its ambition to strengthen its position in the high-volume commuter segment, further fueling the growth of two-wheeler sales in the country.
