Thu Jul 24 01:30:00 UTC 2025: **Realmuto Hosts “Faith and Baseball Night” After Phillies Loss**
**Philadelphia, PA** – Despite a disappointing 8-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels and a rain delay, many Philadelphia Phillies fans remained at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night for a special “Faith and Baseball Night” hosted by Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto and his wife, Lexi, alongside team chaplain Jeff Boettcher.
Following the game, Realmuto and his wife shared their personal faith journeys with fans in attendance, discussing how their Christian beliefs intertwine with their baseball careers. Boettcher also interviewed the Realmuto’s, asking a series of questions posed by fans through social media. Christian music group Casting Crowns performed a worship set to close the night.
Realmuto expressed his gratitude for the turnout, especially after the team’s loss and the earlier weather delay. “There was every reason in the world not to hang around today,” Realmuto said, “It was cool to see people show up for Jesus.”
The couple emphasized the importance of their faith as a foundation in the often-turbulent world of professional baseball, finding grounding in their relationship with Jesus amidst the highs and lows of the sport. They highlighted the importance of staying connected to their faith, particularly in an era dominated by social media’s often-critical voices.
Lexi Realmuto shared that sharing their faith with the fans of Philadelphia was a driving factor for holding the event, and likened it to sharing their favorite local cheesesteak place.
The couple also discussed their involvement with International Justice Mission (IJM), a Christian organization dedicated to combating slavery and trafficking, a cause they are deeply passionate about, particularly due to their own four children.
“My foundation is in Christ,” Realmuto said, “It’s not in who I am on the baseball field… for me, my foundation is Jesus… and this out here is just a bonus.”
