Wed Jul 23 19:44:52 UTC 2025: ## Himachal Pradesh CM Urges Central Government to Boost State’s Aviation Sector

**Chandigarh, July 24, 2025 (IST)** – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to the Central government to expedite the development of the state’s civil aviation infrastructure. In a letter addressed to Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Mr. Sukhu requested special central assistance for the proposed expansion of Kangra airport.

The Chief Minister also urged a review of the airport’s techno-economic feasibility report, suggesting the Airport Authority of India (AAI) may have overestimated costs. He emphasized the need for night landing facilities at Kangra Airport, the state’s largest and busiest.

Furthermore, Mr. Sukhu requested the provision of a second apron at Shimla airport to accommodate ATR 42/600 aircraft, which he believes would significantly increase flight operations. He also called for the resumption of daily flights on the Shimla-Dharamshala-Shimla sector by Alliance Air Ltd. The Chief Minister’s efforts highlight the importance of improved air connectivity for the state’s economic development and tourism.
