Thu Jul 24 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Government on High Alert as Heavy Rains Lash Hyderabad

**Hyderabad, July 23, 2025** – The Telangana government has issued a high alert across the state, particularly in Hyderabad, as heavy rainfall continues to batter the region. Minister In-charge of Hyderabad, Ponnam Prabhakar, held an emergency meeting with key officials to coordinate relief efforts and mitigate potential disruptions.

Following weather forecasts predicting further heavy rainfall over the next three days, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed Minister Prabhakar to take immediate action. The Minister subsequently issued crucial directives to Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand, Collector Dasari Harichandana, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath, and officials from Metro Water Works and Traffic departments.

“Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens,” Minister Prabhakar stated after the meeting. “We are taking all necessary precautions to minimize inconvenience and prevent any untoward incidents.”

Key measures include the deployment of specialized personnel at 141 identified waterlogging points across the city. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have also been placed on standby. The Minister stressed the importance of preventing traffic disruptions similar to those experienced during the past week’s heavy rainfall.

In response to the heavy rainfall forecast, Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged IT companies to implement work-from-home policies for their employees to ease traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, Hussain Sagar lake is receiving a significant influx of water from upstream areas. Officials are releasing water through sluice gates as the water level approaches the full tank level of 513.34 meters. The GHMC has issued an alert for residents in the Musi river basin.
