**Bay of Bengal to Spawn Low-Pressure System, Triggering Widespread Rainfall Across Eastern and Central India**
**Visakhapatnam/Amaravati, July 24, 2025** – A low-pressure system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal by Friday, July 25th, as a result of an upper air cyclonic circulation developing in the North Bay of Bengal today, Thursday.
Weather experts predict the low-pressure area will intensify into a depression while moving towards the coast of West Bengal and North Odisha. Private weather forecaster Skymet reports that, upon crossing the coast, the system is likely to track across Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and eventually into Uttar Pradesh.
This weather pattern is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to several states in eastern, central, and northern India over the coming days.
Already, an upper air cyclonic circulation over the north coastal region of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday has moved to the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal by Wednesday. A trough also extends from the eastern Arabian Sea across central India, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and into the west-central Bay of Bengal.
This existing weather activity caused scattered rainfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, with isolated heavy rainfall in the north coastal regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and several places in Rayalaseema will experience rainfall on Thursday. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of north coastal Andhra Pradesh, with heavy rainfall in south coastal areas.
The IMD has issued warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall in north coastal Andhra Pradesh on July 25th and 26th. Strong winds are also expected along the coast, and fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
