**Bangladesh Clinches Historic T20I Series Victory Over Pakistan**
**DHAKA, BANGLADESH – May 8, 2024** – Bangladesh secured a narrow eight-run victory against Pakistan in the second T20I match held on Tuesday, marking their first-ever T20I series win against the visiting side. The thrilling encounter saw Pakistan bowled out for 125 in pursuit of Bangladesh’s 133 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Bangladesh’s innings was anchored by Jaker Ali, who scored a crucial 55 off 48 balls, including five sixes. The team was eventually bowled out for 133, with Pakistan’s Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal claiming two wickets each.
Pakistan’s chase got off to a disastrous start, losing their first five wickets for a mere 15 runs, thanks to a stellar performance by Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam, who claimed career-best T20I figures of 3-17. Faheem Ashraf’s aggressive 51 off 32 balls and Ahmed Daniyal’s late cameo of 17 off 11 balls briefly raised hopes of a Pakistan comeback. However, Rishad Hossain dismissed Ashraf in the penultimate over, and Daniyal was caught out in the final over, sealing Bangladesh’s victory.
“It’s wonderful to win back-to-back series,” said Bangladesh captain Litton Das. “This shows good improvement in our standards.”
Pakistan captain Salman Agha lamented his team’s early batting collapse, stating, “We thought 134 would be gettable but we lost too many wickets early on and that’s something we must address quickly.”
Bangladesh had previously won the first match by seven wickets, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The final match will be played on Thursday, also in Dhaka. This victory marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh, who were whitewashed by Pakistan in a three-match T20I series last month.
