**New Delhi, July 23, 2025:** Bihar’s railway infrastructure is set for a major upgrade with the announcement of 52 new railway projects worth ₹86,107 crore, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Minister shared details in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, outlining the comprehensive plan that includes 31 new railway lines, one gauge conversion, and 20 doubling projects, spanning a total length of 4,663 km.

“Bihar’s railway budget has seen a remarkable nine-fold increase in the last 11 years, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and infrastructure in the region,” Vaishnaw stated.

Significant progress has already been made, with 1,014 km of lines commissioned and an expenditure of ₹29,353 crore incurred up to March 2025. Key river bridges at Munger, Patna, and Kosi have been completed, with IITs and NITs providing expertise in their design and construction.

Since 2014, 558 road over- and under-bridges (ROBs/RUBs) have been constructed in Bihar, with an additional 218 ROBs and RUBs sanctioned at a cost of ₹6,014 crore, currently in various stages of planning and execution.

The Sheohar–Sitamarhi rail project is gaining momentum, and Bihar is well-connected with 20 Vande Bharat trains and 10 Amrit Bharat Express services operating in the state. The Railway Minister further stated that 98 stations in Bihar have been identified for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with work already completed at Pirpainti and Thawe railway stations and ongoing at Saharsa, Salauna, Luckeesarai, Gaya, and Muzzafarpur stations.
