Sat Jul 19 01:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Perseid Meteor Shower Faces Moonlight Challenge in 2025: Best Viewing Tips Revealed

**Stargazers eager to witness the annual Perseid meteor shower in 2025 will need to plan carefully due to a bright, full Moon coinciding with the peak activity.** While the Perseids typically offer a spectacular display around August 11-13, the full Sturgeon Moon will significantly reduce visibility, washing out fainter meteors.

Experts advise that, instead of observing the meteor shower on the predicted dates, it’s better to try watching the skies from July 18–28, particularly around the 24th of July, due to the New Moon.

The Perseids, caused by Earth passing through debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle, are active from July 17 to August 23. To maximize your chances of spotting meteors, find a location far from city lights. Dark skies are crucial, so consider rural areas, parks, or even your backyard after turning off all lights. Allow your eyes at least 20-30 minutes to adjust to the darkness, and avoid looking at bright screens.

While the meteors appear to originate from the constellation Perseus, looking slightly away from it, about two-thirds up the sky, will offer the best view. No binoculars or telescopes are needed; simply lie back, relax, and take in the show. Observing with friends and family can make the experience more enjoyable, with one person noting down timings of meteors seen.

While under ideal conditions, you might see up to 100 meteors per hour, but don’t expect a “light up the sky” experience. Bring snacks, water, warm clothes, and something comfortable to lie on for a potentially long night of stargazing.
